Physicians
Brian L. Fowler, MD, FAAEM
Brian was born in Kerrville Texas and lives in Boerne with his wife Cindy and two children, Morgen and Wil. He has practiced Emergency Medicine in San Antonio for the past 12 years and looks forward to sharing his skills with the Boerne community at our new clinic. He attended Texas A&M University and received his Medical Degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 1985. He is Board certified in Emergency Medicine. Brian was a physician in the Navy for 8 years and received the Navy Achievement and Commendation Medals. His community involvement has included being a city appointee to the Library Foundation Board and he is a cofounder and past board member of the Geneva School of Boerne. He is a member of the Oak Hills Church. Brian enjoys family, tennis, and gardening and looks forward to serving this community.
Bryan M. Dunn, MD, FACEP
Bryan Dunn is from Kingsville, Texas and has lived in Boerne since 1996. He and his wife Tonya have 3 children, James, Lauren, and Kristen. He graduated from Baylor University with Honors and The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He completed an Emergency Medicine residency and is Board-Certified in Emergency Medicine. He practiced Emergency Medicine in San Antonio from 1995 to 2007. Bryan is an outdoor type who loves bird hunting and fishing on the Texas coast. He is excited about the opportunity to serve the Boerne community.
Dr. John Rheiner
John Rheiner, M.D. is a native of San Antonio, born at the Nix Hospital. He attended Churchill High School, and then Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Immediately following his graduation from A&M, he was accepted into medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, and received his M.D. degree in 1985. Dr. Rheiner then completed three years of General Surgery residency training at the L.S.U. Medical School Residency Program in Shreveport, Louisiana. He returned to San Antonio in 1988 and worked in Urgent Care Medicine with Texas Med Clinic in San Antonio for 20 years, until 2008. In April of 2008, Dr. Rheiner joined the Boerne Urgent Care Clinic, electing to practice close to his home in Fair Oaks Ranch.
Dr. Alice Epperson
Dr. Alice Epperson was born in Floresville, Texas and raised in San Antonio where she currently resides. She is married to John Phillips, MD and has two children, James and Lauren. After receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree from St. Mary’s University in 1992, she attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where she graduated in 1999. Dr. Epperson completed her Family Practice residency at Spohn Memorial in Corpus Christi. From there, she practiced Emergency Medicine in Kingsville and also in Floresville along with Primary Care Medicine in San Antonio until 2007 when she decided to join Bulverde Urgent Care’s team of physicians.

Dr. Epperson enjoys spending time with her family and lake activities on Lake LBJ. She looks forward to meeting the medical needs of the Bulverde community and the surrounding areas.
Dr. Scott Bryson
Dr. Scott Bryson is originally from Fort Worth, Texas. He currently lives in San Antonio with his wife Chelli Bryson, D.D.S. and their two daughters. Scott graduated from TCU in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He served as an active duty Army officer working as a Registered Nurse for 5 years in Oncology and Critical Care units at BAMC and other local hospitals. He then continued to serve in the Army Reserves while attending medical school at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, graduating in 2005 with honors in the top 15% of his class. He then completed a 3 year Emergency Medicine residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.

He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and has worked in community ER's both in Washington and Texas. Scott enjoys spending his free time with his family, hiking, playing guitar and leading music at the small church he attends.
Dr. Victor Abrego

Dr AbregoDr. Victor is originally from West Orange, a small town in East Texas. He attended college at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas before attending medical school at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. He did residency training at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock. He has been working in Occupational Medicine and Urgent Care since moving to San Antonio in 1986.

He currently resides in San Antonio with his wife Susan. They enjoy traveling and spending quiet time now that the boys (Bryan and Sam) have grown up and moved to other towns. He has really enjoyed meeting and taking care of patients in the Spring Branch/Bulverde area having been with the Urgent Care Clinics since February of 2010.

Dr. Charles Patrick Isbell

Dr. Charles Patrick IsbellPatrick grew up in north central Texas in a small town called Vernon. After graduating high school he attended college at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX where he received a BS in Chemistry and Psychology. During his first year of medical school he met his wife and married her over the Christmas Holidays of their third year. They both graduated from UTMB in Galveston, TX. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at UTHSC Houston in 1993. After completing their residencies, the Isbell's moved to San Antonio were Patrick practiced Emergency Medicine for 16 years. He served as the medical director of the ER at Methodist Specialty & Transplant Hospital and at Christus Santa Rosa NW for many years before leaving to begin his practice in Urgent Care.

Patrick is the proud father of 4 children; Nicholas, Cassie, Sean and Kayla. His wife practices Nephrology in the Medical Center in San Antonio.

Dr. Jay Dale Akin

Dr. Jay Dale AkinDr. Akin is a native of Van, in Northeast Texas and graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is board-certified in Family Medicine and comes to Urgent Care from a private practice in the Texas Panhandle, where he practiced family medicine and obstetrics. He and his wife Pam have always loved the Hill Country and were excited to move to Fair Oaks Ranch in 2011 in order for Dr. Akin to join the doctors at Urgent Care. They are active in their church and with the Geneva School of Boerne, along with their children: Samantha, Zachary and Parker. Dr. Akin is looking forward to serving the communities of Central Texas.

Dr. David Nelson

Dr. Jay Dale AkinDr. David Nelson is originally from California and moved to San Antonio in 1998.  He graduated from USC medical school as a Dean's Scholar and completed his Family Practice Residency at Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center. He is board certified in Family Medicine and has been practicing Urgent Care and Occupational medicine since 1998.  He lives in San Antonio with his wife and two daughters.  He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, cooking, hunting, aviation and is attempting to learn Mandarin Chinese.  He is looking forward to continuing servicing the needs of his patients in the areas surrounding San Antonio.
